Making A Difference

How You Hold Your Makeup Brush Matters

One of the common makeup mistakes people do is using one or two makeup brushes for everything. You need a proper tool kit if you want excellent results. Just like a mechanic who needs more than a screwdriver and a wrench do a wonderful job of repairing an engine, you will also need several types of brushes if you want to get the best results. A good brush kit must include several types of brushes.

The first one is the multipurpose brush. It can be used to apply foundation, blush, or bronzer. Second is the contour brush which gives definition to your face. It is used to apply foundation or bronzer along your cheekbones and jawline.

If you want to apply loose powder foundation, a powder finish brush is what you need. A stippling brush gives a diffused effect when applying liquid foundation.

A tapered brush is used to blend blush across the cheeks, giving it a softer and more subtle change in tone that looks more natural.

To fill in brows and apply shadows and other details around your eyes, you are going to need a thin linear brush. If you are fond of using luminizer to highlight your cheeks and nose, a fan brush is something that you will need. It can also be used to remove excess eyeshadows.

All in all, you need to have around seven types of brushes. If you are worried about expense, don’t. There are many good brush kits with everything you need that are reasonably priced. They also come in compact storage so that you can conveniently take them all with you when traveling.
